Albert “Bert” is an attorney-CPA and holds the Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) designation from the AICPA.
Professor Spalding serves on the faculty of the Department of Accounting at the Wayne State University Mike Ilitch School of Business…where he teaches business law, tax, forensic and fiduciary accounting -- as well as professional ethics -- in the MS in Accounting and MBA programs.
Bert Spalding has also served on the legal staff of the IRS National Office in Washington, D.C. where he drafted letter rulings, technical advice memoranda, revenue rulings and other pronouncements.
Dr. Spalding holds graduate degrees in accounting, law, psychology, philosophy and theology, and has authored several books and many journal articles on accounting, tax, legal and ethics-related topics. His popular SpaldingCPE seminars, webcasts and self-study courses on ethics and accounting topics are widely received around the State of Michigan as well as nationally.


Bryan L. Smith, CPA.CITP, CISA Related Seminars and Products


Bryan is the co-founder of CPA Crossings, LLC, (est. 2001), which specializes in helping accounting, tax and financial professionals to leverage technology to increase the quality and efficiency of their services. Bryan’s primary qualification is his understanding the business side of technology and helping CPAs bridge the gap between business and technology. He has extensive knowledge and experience in proper Excel design techniques and helping CPAs build spreadsheets that are accurate and allow for better data analysis.

Duane M. Reyhl Related Seminars and Products


Duane Reyhl is an accounting and auditing partner with the Michigan firm of Andrews Hooper Pavlik PLC. His primary focus is auditing, attestation services, and forensic accounting. He also helps clients refine their internal control and implement accounting standards. Duane’s industry experience includes not-for-profit organizations, local governments, colleges and universities, school districts, employee benefit plans (private, governmental, and SEC), health care organizations, and construction contractors. Prior to AHP, Duane was a member of a San Jose, California firm and served for six year as the technical director for the Peer Review Program of the California Society of CPAs where he oversaw the program’s technical review process and assisted reviewers and firms with technical questions related to audit, accounting, and peer review standards. Prior to that, Duane was the partner in charge of auditing, accounting, and quality control for an Oakland, California firm.

MICPA service. His service for the Michigan Association of CPAs includes current membership on the Peer Review Task Force. Duane is a past chair of MICPA A&A Conference Panning Task Force and the Accounting and Auditing Standards Task Force.

Presentations and courses. Duane has previously written the AICPA course, Peer Review – Are You Ready and speaks frequently on audit, accounting, and peer review topics for various organizations. He has been a discussion leader at two AICPA Peer Review Conferences. In addition, he has taught a section of the course, Financial Statements in the Courtroom, for the National Judicial College. Duane has also written two courses for the California Society of CPAs: Audit Planning: A Practical Approach to Integrating the Standards and Non-Profits – Issues with Fraud, Risk Assessment, Internal Control, and Volunteers.

Other interests. Duane is the past district governor for Rotary District 6310, a past president of the Rotary Club of Saginaw-Sunrise, and serves as the school board treasurer for St. Charles Community Schools. Away from work, he enjoys spending time with his family, writing children’s stories, performing genealogy research, and playing the acoustic guitar.


Anthony (Tony) C. La Russo, BA, MBA, CMA Related Seminars and Products

Tony has over 30 years of experience in industrial and service organizations. Over the course of his career he has held senior level management, operating and staff positions, including as President of companies with annual sales more than $500 million, consisting of domestic and international facilities. Tony has also held senior level positions in finance, planning and business development, as well as being a Board member for start-up companies. Prior to retiring, during 2003, he was the President of a major division in an international company. During his career, he successfully negotiated business transactions on six continents.

Tony was an Adjunct Professor of Management for 20 years and has written numerous articles on a variety of business topics. He is a member of several professional organizations, has spoken at annual meetings and programs at universities, and served as an officer in trade associations. He has been recognized by several organizations for his teaching and lecturing accomplishments. Tony also has had two books published: Management: Ready Aim Fire (2005) and Practical Financial Decision Making (2011). His biography is included in several publications by Who’s Who and has recently been given their Lifetime Achievement Award.

In addition, since retiring from full-time employment, he has lectured throughout the U.S., including at major corporations, and conducted consulting activities. Tony has developed and written courses and webinars covering topics in finance, accounting and management, was a reviewer for a new book and authored an article How to Avoid Tunnel Vision.

Ash Noah, CPA, FCMA, CGMA, AM&AA Related Seminars and Products


Ash Noah is currently Vice President External Relations – Management Accounting at the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), and focuses on introducing, promoting and widening awareness of the Chartered Global Management Accountant® (CGMA) designation among organizations worldwide.  He works closely with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and acts as a liaison to the CFOs and CEOs of Fortune 1000 companies and other significant organizations.

 

Ash has previously served as CFO of the International Unit of the global transport and logistics provider, TNT Express, and has led finance teams in 45 countries through significant transformation.  While at TNT, Ash worked with CIMA to help build Business Partnering competencies in the finance function. He has been closely involved in mergers and acquisitions in Brazil, Chile, India and Spain.  He has also led several business turnarounds in the Middle East, Africa, Australia, Northern Europe and Asia. 

Ash is a licensed US CPA and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, making him one of the few CGMA designation holders who qualify through both the AICPA and CIMA.   He is currently based in Durham, North Carolina.
